Purpose
The Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation is an international charitable trust that initiates, supports, and runs non-formal one-teacher schools (popularly known as Ekal Vidyalayas) all over the country. With the participation of numerous non-profit trusts and organizations, this program has now become an influential non-governmental education movement in India. Ekal was founded on Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy of empowerment through education.

The month of October marked Microsoft’s Giving Campaign, which raised funds to support Tribal Children in India. In the Giving Campaign of Oct 2008, Ekal was able to raise funds to support more than 250 schools.
