Focus
The Citizens Foundation is one of Pakistan’s leading non-profit organizations in the field of formal education. As of 2010, TCF has built and is operating 660 school units nationwide, with an enrollment of 92,000 students and an all-female professional faculty comprising 4,800 teachers. The TCF operating structure is unique in its focus on broad-based, high quality education, with facilities located in under-privileged communities to minimize transport barriers. The TCF model includes:
- Purpose built schools . . . with fully equipped classrooms, computer and science labs, libraries, playground and basic amenities such as water, electricity and toilets
- Relevant, comprehensive curriculum . . . with teacher training program, pre-service and annual professional development
- Professional management . . . through regular monitoring and evaluation of educational content and teaching methods
- Focus on education for girls . . . nearly 50% gender parity in most campuses
- All-female teaching staff . . . to encourage enrollment of girls
Areas of Service

Example Project (by the Seattle Area community)
The Seattle area community has been championing the cause of education in Pakistan actively for several years now. After years of informal support for TCF, the community last year galvanized around the goal of funding one new campus per year. The fundraising campaign and event in spring 2009 raised over $200k, and the TCF Seattle Campus I started operation in April 2010. Discussions are now underway to start construction on TCF Seattle Campus II this fall.
