Focus
Village Volunteers is a non-profit organization that works in partnership with rural village and capacity-building programs to support the development of sustainable solutions for community survival, education, and growth. VV partners with rural, community-based NGOs with the aim of strengthening local communities. VV promotes self sufficiency by introducing programs that provide economic opportunities, food security, and improved health conditions, with respect for the environment and culture.

Work in India
New Light, a non-profit located at Kalighat (Ward 83) in Kolkata is one of several organizations with which VV partners. New Light is a secular nonprofit charitable trust that has set up a night-shelter to protect and educate young girls, children and women at high risk. The program has been operating since December 2001 and provides a safe shelter, educational opportunities, recreational facilities, health care and legal aid for the children, girls and women in their community.
